About Us:

The Lavington Panthers Cricket Club has a long history in cricket in the Albury/Wodonga region dating back to the 1920's with the club's first premiership being in 1925/26 in the second grade competition. Originally known as the Lavington Cricket Club (The Blues) the club was a founding member of the Lavington Sports Club, established in 1976 in partnership with the Lavington Football Club. The success of the Lavington Sports Club in the late 1970's and 1980's allowed the development of the sporting facilities that are the envy of other clubs in regional Australia.

With the merger of the Lavington Sports Club and Penrith Panthers in 2001, the club became known as the Lavington Panthers Cricket Club. The transition from "The Blues" to "The Panthers" was very smooth with the only marked change being change in team colours from navy blue to black, red, white and teal. The Lavington Panthers Cricket Club's theme song was also changed to "Good Old Lavington Forever" (sung to the tune of the Collingwood AFL theme song) at this time.

The Lavington Panthers Cricket Club is affiliated with the Albury and Border Cricket Association (ABCA) playing other clubs from Albury, Wodonga and Tallangatta in one of the strongest competitions in Country NSW and Victoria. ABCA representative teams have performed strongly over the years in the annual Victorian Country Week carnival and the NSW Country Cup competitions and various other senior and junior representative fixtures.

Rich in tradition the Lavington Panthers Cricket Club has enjoyed many premierships in all grades over the years the most recent being back to back first grade premiers in 2001/02 and 2002/03. The Lavington Panthers Cricket Club has also been successful in the ABCA's recently established first grade one day competition winning the inaugural Border Express Cup in 2003/04.

The Lavington Panthers Cricket Club has watched many champion players move through the ranks from a very healthy junior cricket club which continues to the present day. The Lavington Panthers Cricket Club prides itself on the support provided by senior players to the junior club, recognising that a strong junior club is the cornerstone to success in the senior cricket grades and long term future of the Lavington Panthers Cricket Club.

Socially the Lavington Panthers Cricket Club has encouraged families and partners to be involved in the game through social functions (including the annual presentation night dinner), scoring, providing drinks and being involved with Saturday night functions. We realised some time ago that a club that is successful off the field generally performs better on the field and players are more likely to spend time at the club if their partners and families feel welcome and enjoy their time at the Lavington Panthers Cricket Club.
